The study, published in late April and circulating widely after hitting Hacker News this weekend, is one of the first rigorous, real-world evaluations of AI diagnostic capability in an actual clinical setting. Not a benchmark. Not a simulation. Real patient data. Real conditions. Real stakes.

The AI won. Not by a little. By enough to matter.

But here's what the 67% number hides: the AI got one in three patients wrong. And in an emergency department, a wrong diagnosis isn't a neutral outcome. It's a missed sepsis case. It's chest pain sent home. It's a stroke symptom dismissed.
